Would you want the fact that you got some use out of a website called “How To Get A Grip” broadcast to the world?
Nah, didn’t think so.
I wanted to congratulate and thank you for being so down to earth. Sometimes it’s hard to man up especially with things like Facebook and Twitter around, where you are encouraged to publish your every miserable thought and selfish, boring comment like they are actually important. I’ve got your “Man The Fuck Up” page ready standing by next time my friend posts a status about being tired or having a headache.
I also wanted to thank you for helping me get my stupid head straight again! I’m usually an upbeat sorta lass, but just lately I’d been feeling a little meaningless about life in general. Coming across your video with Nick Vudjicic really opened my eyes and he is such an amazing man it’s impossible not to be inspired by his life!
I’ve been reading self-help, meditation, psychology, etc. websites for two years since the break-up with my kid’s mom and subsequent feelings of wimpiness and misery. 2 fucking years. SOLID. I’m guilty of nearly every thing you address on this site and none of it has ever been put in such a clear manner, as to how to get over it. So I have to say that this is the best site I’ve read in 2 years on the entire internet. Bravo and thank you for getting me off my ass and to stop reading psychologytoday.com to try to “figure myself out.” So. Awesome.
You are my new hero i think…
I’ve read through most of “The Best of GAG? and fella….you’ve gotta grip on the situation:) Wish I had been reading your good stuff during all my years of angst and anxiety. I think now I’ll just share it with all my angst and anxiety ridden friends. Keep writing…keep your grip!
Awesome Blog! Came across it today and I was inspired by your writing. I cannot remember the last time I could relate to writing on this level before- I am totally on the same page. Keep up the good work, I will be visiting frequently.
I just discovered your site via Facebook. Hello? Love.
Just wanted to say that I just discovered your blog (via a FB link), and I ADORE your writing! I have just gone through and read every post from the beginning and I love, love, love every one! Thank you for your inspired directness, and your no-nonsense approach to really practical things we can do to improve ourselves and our lives. You ROCK!
Your thoughts are well presented and fun to read. Common sense isn’t so common. Thanks for reiterating the simple but important things that seem to elude so many.
I came upon this site using stumbleupon. To put it simply-it is awesome. To the point, no-nonsense, positive, advice. Sometimes I hang around thinking about doing, and talking about doing. Then on a lazy Sunday I came decided that I should just DO. This site may have a little to do with that. Ridiculous? Maybe. But congrats, you made a little change in a person out there. So thanks.
I’m not even quite sure how, but tonight I managed to come across your website. I think it was a link from Reddit… Anyhow, the page upon which I landed was your post about “Ten things you should already know by now.” And I did know them. And I do know them. But holy crap, did I ever need to hear those right now. So I stayed, and I read some more, and I really enjoyed the things you had to say. I was sitting around wallowing in self-pity, and feeling like a general ass. I’m better now. And back to working on making the life I want to have, rather than worrying about what it is that I’m presently missing. So, thanks. I appreciate it. More than I can say.
Well done. There are so many long rambling bullshit self-help websites out there, it’s incredibly refreshing to come across something that’s direct and honest and to the point. Some of your posts are like the kick up the ass I’ve needed for a long time. I’ll definitely be coming back. It’s all such common sense, but you spell it out well. So yeah. I LIKE.
I just found your blog and bookmarked it immediately. One of the most refreshing pieces of web-lit I’ve come across in a long time. Plan on checking in regularly for a good dose of reality checking common sense.
I came across your blog about a month ago and am utterly obsessed. I have GAG in my bookmarks bar and I go to it just about every day to see if there’s a new entry. I think you are absolutely hilarious and poignant. I usually hate self help bull shit but there is something about the way you write and your advice is so simple that I just think “HOLY SHIT… YEAH! THATS SO TRUE, WOW!” every time I read it. Your humor and simplicity is what makes what you do so genius. Basically, you’re brilliant.
AMAZING. I seriously CANNOT believe that i haven’t come across this site earlier. PLEASE dont stop blogging. I have made your website my homepage. It’s PHENOMENAL.
I love you, seriously….I do. Your works are inspiring, with a hint of sexy ;o)
